- Once upon a time a group of brilliant men conceived of a place where the individual was free to pursue his/her happiness in the way he/she saw fit and the limited government that existed did so merely to provide security from external threats and a level playing field for all. That was the dream of this country and the embodiment of that dream in the Constitution of the United States and it's impementation resulted in more freedom and wealth for not just us but the world than at any time in history. For one hundred years, that freedom has been under assult. The forces of socialism have made inroads to the point where our previously limited government now takes over half our money and tries to micromanage every area of our lives, and we have allowed it. But trading in American exceptionalism, rugged individualism and our 'can-do' attitude for one of dependence, apathy and helplessness will leave us ill equipped to deal with the difficult challenges that are and will face us in this century.
